Join us for a special Black Music Month / New York Music Month event hosted by the syndicated radio show and podcast Sheroes (airing here in NYC on WNYE) and sonic architects Bang & Olufsen for intimate conversation and live radio show taping with Kelsey Lu. Sheroes is a radio show and podcast that centers the creative process of women, queer folks, and the LBGTQIA+ / gender fluid community at large by spotlighting incredible guests, sharing in depth interviews, and programming GREAT new music on a weekly show that airs on stations all of North America. Each show features a curated mix of new and iconic artists, it highlights diversity, and aims to combat gender inequality in the music industry. For this special event Sheroes welcomes Kelsey Lu, a classically trained cellist, singer-songwriter, producer, composer, poet, and performance artist born in Charlotte, North Carolina, whose artistic practice flows comfortably at the intersection of visual art, performance, healing, and music. Lu also collaborates with artists from musicians such as Yves Tumor, Sampha, Florence + The Machine, and Skrillex to multidisciplinary artists such as Kahlil Joseph, Wu Tang, Precious Okoyomon, & more. Their second album, So Help Me God, drops June 12th via Dirty Hit.

co-sign returns this June with a new edition of Radio City — a free event series for NY Music Month celebrating one of New York’s most vital cultural resources: independent, non-commercial radio. In partnership with local stations including WFUV, WFMU, The Lot Radio, WNYC, Shereos Radio, East Village Radio, Maker Park Radio, and WKCR, the series highlights the essential role independent radio plays in New York’s music and media ecosystem.

For decades, New York’s independent FM and online stations have served as trusted platforms for music discovery, artist development, and community storytelling. Throughout June, participating stations will host free public events across the city designed to reconnect with audiences, showcase their unique programming and missions, and create pathways for artists and fans to engage directly with the airwaves.

Radio City brings together artists, music fans, and industry professionals to foster community, expand audiences, and reinforce the importance of supporting local radio. In an increasingly homogenized media landscape, independent radio remains one of the few deeply curated, culturally responsive, and community-rooted spaces for discovery and connection.
