Tomoko Akaboshi

Music Coordinator

Tomoko Akaboshi, Music Coordinator from Tokyo, became the first woman of color to music coordinate a Broadway musical (A Strange Loop). She has been credited as music supervisor, producer, and coordinator for major orchestras, recordings, and musicals, including Broadway productions of Gypsy, Illinoise, A Strange Loop; video game soundtracks Elden Ring, Street Fighter; live productions Star Wars in Concert, The Tonight Show; and orchestral tours with The Boston Symphony, and Tokyo Philharmonic. Tomoko has supervised productions in seven countries, and has performed with Alan Silvestri, Andrea Bocelli, Joe Hisaishi, Audra McDonald, Kurt Elling, as a violinist. Tomoko’s passion for breaking down cultural and musical barriers led her to found the Tokyo Strings Workshop and The Resonance Collective, which have produced educational master classes and workshops with strings players of all ages participating from over 17 countries.
