La Excelencia is an award-winning salsa band from New York City, known for blending 70s-era salsa with a modern, unapologetic sound. Founded in 2005 by composer and producer Julian Silva, the band quickly gained recognition for their bold, socially conscious music, starting with their debut album Salsa Con Conciencia in 2006. La Excelencia’s high-energy performances and "salsa dura" style have earned them a devoted following, leading to international tours and success with albums like Mi Tumbao Social (2009), Ecos Del Barrio (2012), and Machete (2020).
