Chisaram (Chissy) Nkemere currently serves as the Global Chair of Education at Women in Music after spending 2.5 years as the organization’s first Global Co-Chair of Diversity & Inclusion. She also serves on The Recording Academy’s New York Chapter Advocacy Committee, a member of The Music Business Association’s Education Committee, as a Valence Spotlight and mentor, and recently served as a member on the Junior Board of The Music Business Association, focusing on the empowerment and education of the music community as a whole.
Over the course of the last three years, Chissy has dedicated herself to building out Women in Music’s first ever Executive Internship program. The internship feeder leverages WIM’s community and industry network to give paid career and educational opportunities throughout music to a diverse group of intern applicants who lack traditional access to joining the industry.
Chissy’s focus as an executive in music has led to her participation in several panels & industry discussions on leadership, minority representation/amplification, opportunity creation, & her own intersections as a young, Black woman in music.
