The Fortune Society (Fortune), one of the nation’s leading nonprofit reentry service and advocacy organizations, will host its eleventh annual Creative Arts Festival on Saturday, June 22, proudly presenting the works of dozens of community members who have been impacted by the justice system.

The all-day festivities will include hands-on workshops, live music, spoken word performances, food, and much more. Throughout the day, there will be screen-printing with Laura Cerón Melo, Ingrid Romero and Alyson Fraser Diaz; Crown Making for kids of all ages with Lee Kim; a Visual Art Exhibition by Fortune Artists; and Information & Advocacy Resources from community activist organizations including Freedom Agenda with info on the fight to close Rikers Island; as well as food for sale from local Queens vendors.

Also joining at the event is The People’s Bus, a bus formerly used to transport people detained on Rikers Island; In partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Public Artist in Residency program, it has been transformed with input from New Yorkers into a community center on wheels; with the purpose of engaging people in NYC’s civic life through beauty and joy.

The event is free and open to everyone. No RSVP is required.
