Savor the Sound: A Night of Cultural, Culinary, and Musical Fusion

June 15, 2024 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$90 – $175

We are Concerts for Compassion – a group of Juilliard alumni on a mission to help refugees in NYC. A non-profit, CFC provides music and education to the migrant communities in our city and abroad. We’ve been to over thirty countries across the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, and have had features on WQXR, Good Morning America, and more.

On Saturday, June 15th, 2024, we are hosting a unique pairing of dinner and a concert at Chelsea Market –  Savor the Sound: A Night of Cultural, Culinary, and Musical Fusion in partnership with refugee-run restaurant, Eat Offbeat. It will be a beautiful evening of cultural celebration of food and music in an intimate setting, featuring members of the former Marian String Quartet (all Juilliard alumni).

Our team curated a program of musical works to pair with dishes on the menu, prepared by the chefs of Eat Offbeat from their home countries across the Middle East and Africa. Works by celebrated composers Reena Esmail and Jessie Montgomery will be complemented by traditional music from around the globe, including an original arrangement by CFC Repertoire curator Arjan Singh.

Formed in September 2021 at The Juilliard School, the Marian Quartet was a distinguished Honors Chamber Quartet in October 2021 and 2022. In April 2022, they won Gold Prize at the 17th annual St. Paul String Quartet Competition in Minnesota.

All proceeds from this event will go towards creating an emergency fund for the amazing chefs at Eat Offbeat.
