Tower Records Block Party

Join us in Williamsburg on June 29th for a full-day lot party as we celebrate the end of New York Music Month! Enjoy daytime DJ sets, F&B from SAUCED BK and L’Industry, and a showcase of restored Land Rovers by Brooklyn Coachworks. Curated vinyl and merchandise will also be available for purchase from Tower Records. The MC Sha-Rock Day Presents: Woman in Hip Hop Festival is an annual event dedicated to celebrating and honoring the contributions of women in hip hop culture. Held Bronx, New York, this vibrant festival pays tribute to the trailblazing achievements of MC Sha-Rock, the first female MC/rapper and a foundational figure in hip hop.

The festival spans two days, featuring a dynamic lineup that includes Roxanne Shante as the host and Strafe’ as the headliner. Attendees can enjoy live performances, engaging panel discussions, and various activities designed to empower and uplift the community.

Warrior Women-powered NYC Female Battle of the Bands

A concert and talk aimed at supporting the career growth of female artists and bands in NYC, this is a battle of the bands where every warrior woman in music wins!

The event will feature local NYC professional female-led all-originals bands, ranging from Rock and Alternative to Indie and Punk to Pop – all under one roof! Featured bands include local NYC popular bands SILENT FURY, THE DYE BAND, MADKAT , THE REPRESSIONS & MORE! Prizes will be gifted to all participants!

Attendees will have the opportunity to win cool Warrior gear in an on-site raffle!

Lead Warrior Woman, JazzRock of SILENT FURY, a Keynote Speaker and Marketing educator at The Musicians Institute, NAMM , The Music Alliance and countless other music business organizations on female brand-building, will share a short talk with a few of her secrets on succeeding as an independent woman in music.

Local 802 AFM and the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment CELEBRATE PRIDE

Associated Musicians of Greater New York—Local 802, American Federation of Musicians—welcomes our neighbors of Hell’s Kitchen and beyond in celebration of LGBTQ Pride. Join us in the union’s historic Club Room for an evening featuring professional instrumentalists and vocalists of the Queer community (and its allies), all part of the New York Music Month!

As a symbol of solidarity with the artists and the multiple genres in which they work, the music will be varied. First, a chamber music ensemble of the esteemed ChamberQUEER group, directed by violist Kal Sugatski (Orchestra of St. Lukes, NY Phil), with violinist JD Hunter (Broadway and studio) and Maria Bella Jeffers (studio, touring). This set will be followed by guest speakers (TBA), and then a special QUEERCabaret featuring 2024 MAC Award winner Maria Gentile as well as noted performers Anthony Fett, and Susan Campanaro as “Lavinia Draper”. Lynn Portas, pianist/vocalist/musical director, will lead a sizzling trio brandishing DIVA Jazz Orchestra drummer Sherrie Maricle and Broadway bassist Lexi Bodick.

NYMM Tour of Brooklyn Paramount

On November 24, 1928, Brooklyn Paramount introduced the most immersive entertainment experience the world had ever seen. Emboldened as ‘America’s first movie theater built for sound,’ Brooklyn Paramount set the stage for a storied saga of beginnings. The historic venue hosted events of all kinds from jazz icons like Ella Fitzgerald to the work of Hollywood’s sole female director of the time—Dorothy Arzner to LIU’s Basketball games! Now, after 60 years since its last curtain call, this palace of entertainment is being revived as a multigenre sensory spectacle of state-of-the-art sound.

Join DJ Clue and Company to celebrate Juneteenth in Roy Wilkins Park, Queens. DJ Clue is a mixtape pioneer and veteran New York radio jock who earned platinum certification! He is a powerhouse and icon on today’s music scene.
Juneteenth is a community empowered event with Black Music, Creativity and Love, Excellence, and Black Joy. Since the summer of 2020, multiple Queens communities have reconnected to highlight, celebrate, and commemorate the history of Black Ancestors and their journeying to liberation through Juneteenth.
